Aspetuck Health District (AHD) provides essential public health services for the communities of Easton, Weston, and Westport, Connecticut. They came to us looking for a cohesive rebrand that would modernize their image, clarify their messaging, and improve access to online services for residents.

A Clearer Identity for a Community Health Partner

Aspetuck Health District (AHD), the first health district formed in Connecticut, serves the towns of Easton, Weston, and Westport. Despite its long-standing role in safeguarding public health, the community often struggled to understand what the district does and whom it serves. The previous logo lacked clarity and impact, missing the opportunity to build recognition and trust.

 

Our design objective was to develop a bold, modern identity that communicates AHD’s role as a professional, approachable, and vital resource for public health education, environmental health services, and regulatory support. Through collaborative discovery sessions with the district’s leadership team, we uncovered key values that guided the redesign: partnership, professionalism, community, and clarity.

 

With a simplified, cohesive visual identity, Aspetuck Health District is now better positioned to build community awareness and present itself as the trusted public health partner it has always been.

Logo Redesign

The new logo features a dynamic, abstract mark that reflects interconnectedness and movement—echoing both the Aspetuck River and the district’s partnership with three towns. Paired with a clean wordmark and the clear tagline “Serving Easton, Weston & Westport,” the design signals trust, approachability, and regional pride.

 

The updated color palette—anchored in deep blue and supported by vibrant complementary tones — provides versatility and warmth. This flexible identity works across print, digital, and environmental, while remaining legible and cohesive in all applications.

Building a User-Friendly Website for the Public

With its broad mission to protect and promote community health across Easton, Weston, and Westport, Aspetuck Health District needed a website that was more than just an online presence—it had to be a functional resource hub. The previous site was outdated, difficult to navigate, and failed to clearly communicate what the district does or how to access services.

 

The redesign focused on three goals:

  1. Improve clarity and usability for residents, businesses, and builders seeking permits, inspections, and guidance.

  2. Highlight the district’s role as an approachable partner and public health authority.

  3. Build trust through thoughtful, user-centered design and a polished, professional aesthetic.

Strategic Structure Meets Modern Design

The new website features intuitive navigation and clear pathways for different types of users—from homeowners to restaurant owners to local officials. Content was reorganized and rewritten to reduce confusion and improve accessibility, while key services and forms are now easy to locate and understand.

 

We also emphasized mobile responsiveness and compliance with accessibility standards to ensure that all community members can access essential health information regardless of device or ability.

 

With a cleaner layout, bold new branding, and improved functionality, the Aspetuck Health District website now reflects the same professionalism and partnership-focused mission that drives their daily work in the community.
